Water propped my variegated butter plant about a 2 weeks ago. Look at her roots! Should I wait til 2”+ to plant?

I wait for them to be about 6”-8”. I assume you’re propping in straight water; when you’re getting ready to plant in soil, introduce soil to the water first to avoid shocking the plant 😁

Thank you! I thought I had been reading around here 2”+, I don’t think I have the patience for 6-8”!

I use this to help prop my Pothos! I’m fairly impatient myself and using this I got long enough roots within 4 weeks

2” might be when people are propagating succulents as those have much smaller root systems.

Have you done a side by side with two of the same/similar cutting to see if it’s really helpful?

I usually plant pothos when the roots are 1-2”. Just make sure the soil is chunky, so add perlite, bark, etc. Propping in water means that the plant has had easy access to oxygen (since water is H2O). Sometimes people make the mistake of planting in dense soil after propagating and this can suffocate the plant, especially if it just has water roots which are used to being able to take in oxygen easily.
