Oki two questions. 1) if I am growing a plant in water and plan to keep it there do I need to give it fertilizer for nutrients? 2) does anyone do this, if so what fertilizer do you use? I’ve heard of people using slow release fertilizer but I don’t know which one to get.

I don’t do much hydro but I do know they make liquid fertilizers for hydro plants. What kind to get, i’m not sure. Reddit would probably be a good place to start to look for research/recommendations

I keep some of my plants in only water! And I use a hydro specific fertilizer every time I change the water. Getting the hydro fert makes it so much easier and takes all the math out of attempting to dilute correctly other liquid types. I highly recommend getting one if you plan to keep them long term in water. I have an AeroGarden, which has a fertilizer. So thats the brand that I use for my plants and they seem to love it. I’m sure others will have good suggestions for brands as well.
