I got this propagated mother of thousands about 6 months ago… it was growing new leaves fine. But recently now that the new leaves are growing, the leaves below it are dying off and now it’s just the base and the new leaves left. I don’t water super often (2-3 weeks maybe), it’s in a NE facing window, and the soil is a succulent mix I got from the nursery but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to save it? Is there a way to propagate what I have left?

A few questions 😊 Can you take an updated photo if you are saying it’s worse? Is it a kalanchoe of some sort? And does the pot have drainage?

I have to water my kalanchoes about twice a week because they are outside in the hot TX weather. I can’t tell if it’s too dry or not, but if the soil is dry and the bottom leaves are pliable, it might be time to water. That’s how you decide, by checking the bottom leaves. If it is a kalanchoe, it might need more sun also. They can live in lower light inside, but they will stop flowering eventually. I had one that was badly damaged and got it to grow new leaves, and even flower in a north facing window, but the leaves got real light green and it grew a lot slower than they do outside. I have mine outside in my front garden, but in a pot. That is in morning sun, and under a tree that gets partial shade. Yours might need more light to put off more leaves and flower. If it doesn’t get enough light, it can make it start dropping leaves and not put on new ones. So both low watering and low light can do that. Although succulents can handle periods of drought, they don’t necessarily thrive in it, they really just exist and don’t die like other plants. They still do need somewhat regular watering and a decent amount of sun to thrive.

It could just be dropping old leaves, as all plants do. Make sure to water when the soil is completely dry. If you could post an updated photo, that would be helpful :)
