Is this normal when growing a pineapple top ? I’ve done 3 & they all do this so was wondering if this is just part of the process .

Normally, when a pineapple is harvested the parent plant begins to die and it produces pups to regenerate itself. In theory, when you root the top of a pineapple the center should begin to produce new growth. Sometimes the bottom leaves will Brown but the central portion grows and eventually produces a new pineapple. What I don't know is what the success rate is using this method. I have never tried it but it sounds like fun if it works well. Did you root the top in water before you planted it in soil? Or did you just planted directly into the soil. I do not know which technique might be more successful.

좋아요 1개I tried in water the first 2 times & it still looked like this . I guess I’ll keep an eye on the center for growth . I didn’t root this one in water just decided to drop it in soil this time .

0개 좋아요Are you asking if the outer leaf browning is normal? You didn’t clearly state the concern. So, I’m guessing the concern is the outer leaves drying out and not something else like slow growth. KMJ’s comment covers the leaf drying issue. Also, did your first two attempts successfully produce a new plant?🪴🍀
