Someone gave me cuttings like this. Can I just prop them in water or do I have to make that V cut on the bottom?

You can just prop them. It looks like they already cut them in a V just opposite of normal. Won't make a difference, it's just done for more surface area to root
4 J'aimeIf that’s a snake plant , cut the V shape but inverted /\ like that and make sure just the bottom is in the water or else it might rot
2 J'aimeDon’t prop them in water! Snake plants prop far faster and more reliably with rooting compound and regular soil since they tend to want to be dry by nature. Literally dip them in compound and stick them in soil. Super easy!
4 J'aimeWhen propping in soil, how often should you water it? How much water??? I’m trying to propagate a snake plant in soil and I just haven’t touched it for a month. However there are no roots growing yet. I started one in water and I have a little root starting
0 J'aimeI water snakes the same as any other plant. Water until it drains out the bottom of the pot. How often depends on pot size and material it is made out of but usually once a month works. If you haven’t used rooting compound water the soil FIRST then dip plant cutting in the compound and put it in the soil. (This prevents the compound from getting rinsed off).
