I got a snake plant cutting on April 5th and I put it into water with hydrogen peroxide and fertilizer to propagate. How long does it usually take for a snake plant cutting to grow roots? Would it be better to try and grow it in soil instead? I'm new to snake plants.

I would caution against leaving the plant in water and hydrogen peroxide for extended periods, depending on how much peroxide you use it may burn your plant. A water + hydro soak is great for treating for bacterial issues like root root but I only soak for an hour. Rooting in water is fine. These plants are slow growers in my experience. I propagate in just water but you do need to change the water weekly to ensure a consistent supply of oxygen to the roots. It may take a few weeks, maybe a few months depending on the environment your cutting is in. Give it time 🌿🌿🌿

For rooting snake plants, soil is the better and easier method. It reduces the risk of rot compared to water propagation. Use a well-draining mix like cactus soil, and dip the cuttings in rooting hormone before planting. Let the cuttings callous for a day or two first, then keep the soil just slightly moist — not wet. Bright, indirect light will help with faster rooting and stronger growth overall. Lastly, it’s up to you both media & water propagation work. It’s just another option on the table here Edit: it will take 4-6 weeks for rooting and about 2-3 months for full roots
