Baby African Violet in progress here! I propagated the big leaf in water and then when the roots were about 2 inches replanted in a mixture of multi-purpose and peat to help hold in some moisture/make the transition out of water less shocking. In only a few weeks these baby leaves came up! Any recommendations on when/if to move to a larger pot, watering schedule, etc? I want to make sure I don’t over or under-water and that it has enough room to grow.

Violets like this stick out beyond the edge of the pot usually about 1/3 of the plant hanging out around the edges.

Hey Ana! Could I ask you how you propagate them? I’ve tried so many times with mine and they just keep dying! Yours looks so stinking good!💚

I actually just put it in a shot glass with water! And kept an eye on the roots and water level. The first time I tried I planted the leaf too soon and it died, this time around I waited until the roots had nice long fronds and made the soil super wet when I transplanted it. But I think I also just got lucky 😊

I have a prop in process as well! Yours looks amazing! How did water propagation go? I just cut my leaves at a 45 degree angle and stuck them in soil, but 4/5 didn’t succeed. I wonder if water propagation might work better?
