I have this ZZ plant I got a few days ago. I’d love to take some cuttings from her soon and propagate it so I can have more than one, but I’ve never owned this plant before and I am unsure how to do that. Does anyone have any tips, tricks, and/or advice?

Stem props aren’t the way to go for Zz. It takes forever — the better bet is to allow it to establish a bit more and then go in to separate the rhizomes when it’s time for a repot and make new plants that way. It’s a slow grower in general, but the more light it gets, the faster it grows and it can take a LOT of light. Just don’t overwater!! Good luck!

I was reading that you can prop from leaves as well it just takes a million years. I recently rescued one that has a few rotted rhizomes so I’m experimenting with those stems to see if they will regrow rhizomes like I’ve read. I also have several leaf props going to test that as well. But having an established plant is important for sure. Mine was a Walmart $5 rescue that had several stems but only two good rhizomes so I’m testing to try and save more of the plant.

Okay! I may wait until it needs repotting again and then separate the rhizomes. I just repotted it. I’m a bit too inpatient to wait on the leaves 😂

I’m impatient too. 😂 I’m one of those people that as soon as I see a tiny white root on a prop I put that thing in dirt so I get it for sure
