that new leaf isn’t going to make it but the roots there will grow and you’ll be able to get a new plant out of this anyway
6 Mi piaceI’d cut the bottom of the stem so the cut is immediately below the bottom most node but without harming the node. I’d also cut it at a slight angle. Not too diagonal but not straight across either. That’s worked well for me whenever I prop 🫶🏻

1 mi piaceGive it light. About 12 hours under a grow light will help it grow new roots. Fertilize with a little diluted (50%) fertilizer after the new roots appear.

1 mi piaceThat’s pretty normal, I think. The cutting doesn’t have the resources to grow both roots and a new leaf, so it’s letting the new leaf die to prioritize root growth, so it will ultimately survive. I think I count five nodes there and it looks like they’re all already turning themselves into roots. I don’t know if it good to have extra roots or not, but they’ll be fine if you let them be.
