I’ve had these pothos propagating in water for a couple of months now and they’ve both grown one singular root that’s really long. Is that a water root or can I pot these?

Pothos PalaceI’ve been told to wait for secondary roots. I have like 12 pothos and brazils that have been growing in water for about 8 weeks and have only grown primary roots. Pothos are pretty hardy, so I don’t think potting in soil right now would kill it. Just give it a few weeks to adjust and focus on root growth before it starts pushing out new leaf growth.

What if I put some of this on the end of the node and then pot it? Do you think that would work?

Could work! I’ve never used before! I want to try prop drops for water! And eventually the powder so I can just throw the cuttings in soil without water prop first. Do whatever you feel comfortable with, I think both ways will work.

LizHonestly you’d be fine to pot those up. Secondary roots is kinda just more extra insurance but it’s also pothos lol. Just put them in a well draining mix and should be fine. They might throw a bit of a fit going from water to soil but pothos are pretty hard to kill as long as you don’t overwater. The rooting powder might help minimize the shock so definitely worth the try. Water roots might be a bit needier at first as they’re adjusting from being in a full water environment into a planted one. This hasn’t really been something I’ve noticed but have read about it so ymmv.

Jneyman+1 I find my pothos have done just fine moving to soil with only one big sturdy root after being in water
