Either chop the top off, or notch it on a node and apply keiki paste :)

Can you further explain what this means: “notch it on a node”? And that will cause it to produce a new leaf/branch?

Nodes are little bumps or bands where around where a new leaf has previously grown. If you make a small cut (with a sterilised blade) and apply keiki paste (you can buy this on Amazon), it will encourage new growth.

So, if I just make barely deep slices on those round boxes and apply a thin layer of keiki paste, new branches will grow? My banyan fig is only growing branches and leaves at the the top of the plant

Also, do I always make a cut before applying keiki paste—to any plant type?

Yes, that should work! And apply the paste after :)

If this is your desired height I would chop it & you’ll notice new buds in a couple weeks!

So, just chop off at the top a few leaves down? What would you suggest I do to my plant?

So I actually recently chopped one of my FLF stems & you basically just cut as much or as little as you’d like. This is a few weeks since. Your plant looks fairly small but if you want to keep it small then yes you can chop the top & you’ll then get new growth like I showed in the picture. Me personally I would wait til you have a bit more length & thus more nodes for possible new growth points.

So if I'd cut just under the fifth leaf or so it could possibly branch out on top then?
