Hey I need help! I am trying to propagate this alocasia plant! I’m pretty confident it’s an alocasia because of the leaves however the color is much lighter than I’ve ever seen minty green I’d call it. Anyway I’ve had in water (changing the water every couple of days) but the color seems off on the Ariel root and that one left step. I have had very little success propagating (just a tomato plant which is easy) I want so much for this one to be ok. Any help you can provide id appreciate!!

That is an Arrowhead plant (Syngonium). Also Alocasia do not have aerial roots and can multiply from Corms, not cuttings.

So I’m never gonna be able to propagate this?

I don’t see why not with the right environment. It has an aerial root which will branch out over the course of a few months. Distilled or rainwater is fine, or filtered water. I would avoid plain tap water if you live in the US.

It’s a syngonium. You can identify the variety as it gets more leaves. They easily propagate in water. I’ve grown about 17 varieties over the years in my hard water. They grow just fine. My white butterfly syngonium is shown in the photo. 🪴🍀
