I love love love this plant but it's getting a little unruly. If I snip off the bottoms can I propagate them and how?

I just took care of my unruly succulent that was looking wild. I cut the tops off of the crazy pieces and took off some of the leaves to make a longer stem and set aside for it to callous before planting back into the pot. Then I carefully removed the leaves off of the rest of the long stem and put aside to propagate. Attached is a pic of mine before!

Every time I take a leaf off of any of my succulents to try and propagate it, I follow all the directions I've seen in the YouTube videos and they always die anyway. Any hints? And after the ends that I cut off of the stem callous over,do I just stick them in some cactus soil? And then when do I water them? That's another problem. I always tend to water too soon and they rot. I'm growing succulents but I'm horrible propagating them.

That was supposed to say I'm great at growing succulents but horrible it propagating them.
0 likesThis is my first time propagating - all of my recommendations above were based on researching. The bigger hunks that I took off I read that they just need callousing and then can be put in cactus soil. I have read that dipping them in rooting powder helps which I grabbed some to try. As for the leaves, once they callous they go stem down in soil and get misted every couple days as far as I understand.
