Please HELP! I bought 5 Angel Wings of different variegations from someone on FaceBook Marketplace. She said they were indoor plants but when I got there they were outside next to her sliding glass door in the shade. She said they could still be brought indoors. Now, 3 of them are having issues (pics below). Please tell me IF any can be saved and/or EXACTLY how to propagate these in water AND soil (I like to try both, if I have enough to work with). Thank you soo much! These were my new favorite plants because I love bright colors!

They can be indoor or outdoor, just depends on the temperature at your location. Is it below 50f degrees outside? Plants can go through some shock after getting them due to the stress from the change in the locations. Caladiums need high humidity. If you’re keeping them indoors, what’s the humidity level at?

Hi. Thank you for your response! When I bought them, they were outdoors and the weather ranged between 70-100. I immediately brought them to my home with part sun/part shade where the humidity stays between 45-55 and the temperature fluctuates between 72-78 strictly. I live in Arizona so I don’t know how the seller was keeping them out doors with our current 11% humidity. Maybe she misted them constantly?

Yeah they definitely need more humidity than your home too. I’d consider getting a humidifier, misting doesn’t really help but for a few seconds after you mist and then it evaporates and is gone and more so introduces opportunities for fungus to grow. If she were keeping them outside in that low of humidity longer term, I would think they would have been showing deterioration before you got them. They also like a lot of light so a north or west facing window is best or supplement with a grow light

They like their soil to stay moist but not overly wet so water when it’s dry a couple inches down into the soil. I’m not familiar on propagating caladiums. I think you propagate by tuber division.

If you’ve checked the soil for any pests or root issues, outside from what the other folks above suggested about the humidity and the shock of being moved, it might also be a change in light given the change from being in natural sunlight all the time. Hope this helps. They definitely don’t look too far gone, so please don’t lose hope. Best of luck with them. They’re such beautiful plants 🌱

How/can they be propagated in water if I snipped the healthy one? Or even the sick one?

Did some quick research and it says you can’t propagate from the cuttings. You can propagate by diving the tubers in the soil. There’s a few youtube tutorials, specifically one for your caladium bicolor. Hope this helps! Good luck! 🍀
