Is it possible to put a monstera deliciosa cutting directly in water to propagate? Or is it better to let the cut dry out before putting in water right away? Please share your tips and tricks! New to propagating here (:

You can put it directly into water, and it will not cause a problem at all 🥂

It’s better to let the cut dry a bit before putting it in water so it doesn’t rot. This is the case with large stem plants. I’ve even seen people use a wax melter and dip the end in to seal it. Cinnamon powder on the cut can also keep it from rotting/getting infected. And if you haven’t looked anything up make sure there’s a node on the cutting not just a petiole with a leaf and all that good stuff. ☺️ Good luck on your propagation journey!

I appreciate you, thanks!! I’ll definitely try the cinnamon method.

I always leave the cutting out for at least a night so that it helps prevent rot. Propagating is so fun !

it’s best to let it callus before water so that the water doesn’t get into the prop and cause root rot.
