When growing cuttings in water indefinitely, when is it best to change the water? I’ve seen mixed answers about changing it often or rarely. Thanks!

I'm in the change it regularly category. If you don't change it you risk bacterial growth and then smells awful not to mention possible route damage. So I would change it every 7 to 10 days. During the growing season I would consider adding a drop or two of a liquid fertilizer either organic or chemical. The water provides little in the way of nutrients. I would also consider using distilled, filtered, or rain water. Some plants are sensitive to chemicals in the tap water. Some may tolerate the tap water but would still do better with the other waters.
1 me gustaI only change it if it gets cloudy and that hardly happens bc I add a couple drop of hydrogen peroxide. I’ve heard that the water contains rooting hormones so it’s a waste to dump it.

0 Me gustaI change mine whenever I notice that its cloudy or has chunks floating in it. I've had plants pretty much rot in water when I left them too long. And I usually add some fertilizer to the water.
1 me gustaThanks! How often do you add fertilizer?
1 me gustaIt kinda depends😂 sometimes every time I change the water, and sometimes I wont for a couple times. I would say you can add it every time.
1 me gustaWhen my pothos are props I change the water once it’s cloudy-ish. Once it’s established (like yours looks), then I change the water every 7-10 days and always add fertilizer. I also always rinse my roots when changing the water. It helps remove any dead roots and algae that may have started to grow.
