Hello! I’m trying to propagate my bubble gum plant and some basil. It’s been a week and still no roots. This is my first time. Any tips?

They might just need more light cuttings like a lot of light. Doesn’t look like there’s enough in that spot, grow lights are fantastic for propagating without burning them and don’t change the water unless it’s gross so the rooting hormones can stay in there and help it along. Basil should root no problem I’ve done it a ton. I just put it in a cup and don’t acknowledge it’s existence for a good while and then when I remember it’s there it has roots lol tradescantia grow roots extremely fast so I would say the light is the problem.

I thought the water should be kept crystal clear for the health of the plant. I’m just learning. Where do the rooting hormones come from? TXS.🌺 (So dirty is good?)

If the water is gross or has algae then definitely change it, if it looks clean just leave it. I rarely change the water and haven’t had any issues. The plant itself produces a rooting hormone they use it to root quickly in nature you can also use these plants in the same container with other cuttings that don’t root quickly to help them too. Pothos and tradescantia are great for that.
