preface: ive propagated this type of plant before and it has rooted… i know where to cut the node, as well as changing the water out every week so, why do my prayer plant cuttings look so sad?? was it just a bad batch? i made two cuttings from the same plant in order to try and make it bushier by planting them all in the same pot! photos, in order: 1) successful prayer plant propagation 2) problem example 3) problem example

Does the successful have only 3 leaves and the unsuccessful have 5? If so that could be the issue, too many leaves to send energy to while trying to root. You may have the successful one getting more heat, humidity, & light… and the unsuccessful may be too far down into the water where as the successful one is held up more by the thing you’re holding

you make a compelling argument! it might just not work out and ill have to be patient for my plant to grow new leaves in soil… thank you!

Also sometimes cuttings just don’t do as well as others… happens to me often, but they always end up rooting eventually (usually)… you can try a head pat and humidity dome too

I’ve heard cuttings do best if they only have 1 or two leaves

Just be sure it’s rainwater or distilled. I just love it when my prayer hands and Calathea raise their hands in the air!!!
