Hi everyone! Iā€™m looking for some help with my Pothos propagations. I had one long stem with a few leaves on it, but I learnt that you can propagate individual leaves to get more plants. Iā€™ve done that, and now I can see that Iā€™m getting some good roots, but the new shoots seem to be growing under the water level. Is what Iā€™ve circled in red the new shoot and is it an issue for it to be under water? Iā€™m worried that bc the new shoot is so close to the root Iā€™m going to struggle to continue growing it in water or soil because it would be under the water/soil line and unable to put out new leaves. What can I do in this case?

    Iā€™ve got some that Iā€™ve potted up like this. They do just fine in my opinion.

    I would put all in potting soil or whatever medium you plan to use. I typically wait for 2 inches long roots. But, pothos plants are resilient and roots well in several potting mixes. Plant them to put the roots under the soil. The new growth will keep growing. No need to keep the soil continuously moist. Just let it dry out after watering like normal. You can add rooting hormone. Add fertilizer per the instructions. I also add SuperThrive Plant Vitamins to boost the cuttings. šŸŖ“šŸ€

      If you decide to keep in water then take your water line to just above the root. Sunnyā€™s picture shows where the water or soil line should be perfectly.

      Thank you! Your diagram was super helpful. Iā€™ve planted up a few of my cuttings that already have roots longer than 2 inches. Iā€™ll see how it goes!

    Agree with above- Iā€™ve had that too. I try to not completely submerge the new growth under the soil when I pot it up but it will grow and be ok!!

      Thank you! I potted a couple of the cuttings and tried my best to make sure it wasnā€™t under the soil level

      Iā€™ve tried to plant them with the soil level under where I can see the new stem growing in, but thereā€™s such a tiny margin between being able to cover all the roots and not covering the new growth. Is it a big deal if the new growth is a little bit covered?
