I’ve been putting off propagating my monstera because it’s my favorite plant and I’m terrified of wasting perfectly good leaves and cuttings only to fail!!! Looking for all the tips and tricks! Potentially relevant information: -I live in Nebraska (weather was -20° overnight last week and will hit up to 55° this upcoming week, but the house is always warm, at anywhere between 70-78°) and sunlight isn’t hard to come by around here but we do have a lot of gloomy winter days -The monstera in question is pictured, overall in great condition, with one or two leaves with mild browning. I would assume I should use the stronger leaves to propagate. Main questions are how to take proper cuttings, how long to let it sit before putting it in water, how long it takes to show some root growth, and can i realistically do this without rooting powder Thanks in advance!!

    So easy to propagate and virtually impossible to hurt. The big stem does need support to climb up or it gets stressed and sends out lots of aerial roots

    No need to let it callous before putting the cutting in water. Roots should show up before 3 weeks or the cutting has too many leaves or too little light. Too many leaves will cause the cutting to put energy in the stems and leaves. No rooting hormone powder needed when propagating in water. Add 50% diluted liquid fertilizer once the roots start growing. I also add SuperThrive plant vitamins. It’s important to give it warmth and bright indirect light or a grow light for 12 - 14 hours a day. 🍀🪴
