Can someone help me out here - what is this little specimen and what should I do with them?

That is an Aerial Root! Monsteras grow them naturally, you could do many things with it, I’ve seen many options and the plant is still thriving Option 1: get a moss pole and wrap it around the moss pole for support Option 2: place it in a cup of water until it develops actual roots and then bury it (people claim this method has shown the best results in growth) Option 3: you can simply cut it off.

“Little specimen” lol 😂 Option 4 is to leave it alone! Your plant will continue to send these out. If you get a true moss pole (not a coco coir pole) your plant will send roots into it and you’ll get bigger leaves. Wrapping this around something won’t do anything for the plant except maybe break the root

You can also just direct the aerial root into the soil, which will help the plant anchor itself. Here’s a Monstera in the wild - check out all those aerial roots! They can absorb moisture from the air, so don’t worry about them drying out.
