Hi! Here’s my avocado plant! I started it in water and then moved it to soil once it had a decent root system/set of leaves! I started it by poking the seed with 3 toothpicks to prop it up and placing it in water by a window! Super simple. Now it’s outside in semi-shade under my east facing front porch. 😊 *updated photo*

2件のいいねPointy-ish side of the seed goes up. Good luck! This is a hass avocado.
いいね 1件If you have a worm bin you can let the worms start it for you.
いいね 1件Share more? I’m about to start a worm bin I was unaware of their aid with plants outside of making good soil
2件のいいねI throw my avocado skins and pits in my worm bins. It takes several months but if I leave a pit near the top the worms will get it all cleaned off (of its not already) and it will split a bit and then send out a long shoot. I put that in soil with the shoot going up and then it roots into the soil. (The smaller one went in soil over the winter, the larger is from last summer.)

いいね 1件Oh, I don't know protocol on sharing social media in here but I have videos about setting up and maintaining worm bins. My channel is More Prana Gardens. Absolutely no pressure; just a resource if you want.
いいね 1件Straight into soil like any other seed is the fastest way to get the plant going. Water starting looks cool, and you can see roots earlier, but the plant is shocked when moved to soil, and stagnates for a while.
3件のいいねI second this. I had a healthy little plant from putting the pit suspended in water but within days of putting soil, she died
3件のいいねA way thats always worked for me when starting seeds is wrapping them in a damp paper towel, putting it in a Ziploc bag, and in a good lit spot. I forget about them sometimes but its fine if you do
