Two week old cuttings/scraps off the floor of the garden center. The pothos looking ones are not showing growth. The snake plant leaves are becoming mushy. And the giant vine one has brown bumps/warts (also zero growth). They all have sun and clean water. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi there, I let my snake plants callous for a few days before putting them into a substrate for propagation. I also tend to water propagate these because I have better success that way (and get very clear signs of progress by being able to check the roots). I would leave them to do their thing. The mushy leaf won’t un-mush so I would throw that one away. Your pothos N-joy (I’m assuming) is a slower grower in my experience to your standard pothos but in either case 2 weeks isn’t very long, it’ll most likely be a few months before their roots are long enough to transfer to your soil or whatever medium you’re potting them up into. The bumps you see on the stem of the pothos are root nubs and aerial roots. Apart from playing the waiting game I would suggest filling the container with water a bit more deeply. Especially for that larger pothos. It may be that one of the nodes a bit higher up the stem will want to grow roots instead orín addition to so it’s good to give the plant the best chance by giving it lots of water. I use larger jars for propagation. It also means more oxygen is available in that water reservoir for longer. Just make sure you change the water weekly. Best of luck! 🌿🌿🌿

There aren’t many pothos nodes in the water. I would cut the pothos into a lot more pieces and make sure each cutting has nodes (the brown bumps) in the water. I also like to dip the ends in candle wax instead of rooting powder (which is kind of like waiting for them to callous over)

In addition to the previous comments i suggest using de-chlorinated water. My pothos hates chlorinated water and will start to lose entire vines if I use regular tap water. You can use the de-chlorinating solution used in freshwater fish tanks.

You dont really need to do that because chlorine dissipates over time anyways, especially when it was always in small amounts like bottled water. Using days old water bottles from your nightstand really is best 🤭

Cut that really long vine and put it in water so it can become its own plant too. Its best when propagating plants to have as many stalks as possible and combine them into one plant. The “warts” on it are probably failed leaves because it wants to grow them but cant do it without substantial roots. It really is best to lose some length so it can support itself
