Hi Planty friends! So my kitten got to my sweetheart philodendron 🥺 this vine was at least 2 feet long if not more. But I don’t want it to go to waste. How can I prop it? I tried before putting it in water and they didnt take and I’ve had a lot of luck propping in water. Thanks for your help!

The nodes just need to stay moist and they’ll grow into roots. They can be placed directly into water or placed on top of moist sphagnum or perlite or both. You can cut them into smaller sections just make sure each one has a node

Sphagnum moss works miracles for me with propagation! I also have some plants that grow well in leca or perlite but for rooting the moss is the boss in this house!! 😁

Thank you! I’ll stay away from pure Leca and perlite for now because I have killed props with those and almost killed my Chinese evergreen with the leca 😪

Cut around each leaf to get one node in each cutting. Put in clean water with SuperThrive plant vitamins. Clean water each week or earlier if cloudy. Put in soil when roots get at least 2 inches long which takes about 3 to 4 weeks. Keep in bright indirect light while propagating and while in soil. My philodendron Rio cuttings are shown.

Thanks! It’s a bud case for a center piece. The top slides off for cleaning. It keeps leaves from falling out and from falling into the water. Eliminates a lot of propagation containers.

I found a similar tray at Target dollar spot! It's all one piece, so I purchased little test tubes to keep separate but looks like they aren't necessary. Thanks for sharing.
