Hello! I’ve never propagated anything before (useless you count an avocado tree from seed that got mealy bugs lol), but I just noticed that planta says this can be propagated. How would I do that? I think it would be super cool. Thanks so much for any help. (This is a false Christmas cactus btw)

I’ve not personally done this myself, but my Mom gave me four cuttings (read: pieces her kittens broke) off my late Grandmother’s plant. I believe she popped the little “arms” into some water (broken/cut end down), and waited for some roots to form before putting them into a small pot with succulent soil. She made sure to keep them in a warm bright space while they were rooting. I would 100% double check my understanding of this process on Google 😂 But, she made it seem like a simple process; and my plant is doing very well, she’s very bushy and happily gives me lots of flowers 🌸 😊

How does this look in general? I just used plain tap water

From what I remember my Mom popped them into a cup of tap water (they have well water) too. She kept it on her kitchen island which has similar conditions as what you listed. So if your cutting behaves like mine did it should work! 😊 (I also think that stick trick to keep the cutting in place is pretty genius!)

Also placed it in a NE facing window with avg temps of 68-74* F

I’ve found these prop better straight into soil than in water but either can work. Make sure that you make the cutting cleanly between two leaves (right at the node), if the bottom leaf of the cutting is broken they might not root. I usually make the cuttings (3-6ish segments per cutting), then dip them in a rooting powder, put them straight into soil, and water them when the soil dries
