I have a lovely prayer plant. I’m a novice of taking care of plants and I know this variety is persnickety but my 14 yr old daughter bought it when her dad died last year so I need to keep this thing alive. Anyway, it wasn’t doing very well well this winter and I read putting it into water might help it. Welp, I’ve now had it in water for six months. There are so many more leaves than before it was in water. I keep it by my pet snake so it can use the sun lamp. I’d like to plant it in dirt (the prayer plant, not the snake) but I’m afraid it’ll be used to the water. Thoughts? Help!

I’d look into leca or clay beads and watch YouTube videos about transitioning plants from water to soil! It’s a beautiful plant with lots of memories! ❤️

So sorry for your loss! In my experience prayer plants are sensitive, one small change in lighting, water frequency, temp, etc. can effect the plant, don’t feel bad! Plants can 100% survive transfer from water to soil, but it can remain in water too if you’d like for it to. The comment above gave some good advice on leca. Some people don’t like having standing water in their home, such is my case (pets could spill it.) It looks like your preference may be soil based on your post so check out Harli G’s YouTube video on moving houseplants from water to soil, lots of helpful info!
