I just stole my jade plant back from my mom, i’m afraid she has root rot and I have no idea what to do, i’m fairly new at trying to save plants, any advice??

(not an expert) i would probably rinse off the roots and put it in fresh soil
1 mi piaceIf you are sure all the roots are gone you can cut it off, let it callous over for a while and then replant. If it still has some good root then I’d do as the above person has said, rinse them off and repot in a cactus/succulent mix with very good drainage.

unfortunately I could only see two good roots on one branch so i cut the ends off and hopefully they will reroot 🤞🏻
1 mi piaceLet it callus over for 5+ days before you put it into any sort of medium. This is a crucial step for success with propagating.

^ yes! Let it callus first. Then I say you propagate them in water to get some roots going before transplanting into soil. :)

I’ve seen multiple videos of people water propagating jade plant and the whole end rotting or one of the 4 plants actually getting a few roots, so i’m going to do soil instead, the one cutting i put in soil a few days ago has already started rooting. this obviously may not be the experience for everyone else but i do not want to take my chances with this plant

Fair enough! You definitely have to watch Jade closely in water and make sure it’s calloused enough beforehand. I’m glad it has started rooting in soil!

I used water and hydrogen peroxide to kill the root rot

i wish I would’ve known this a couple days ago cause i completely cut the roots off and put them in soil 😭

It’s 2 parts water 1 part hydrogen peroxide. It works like a charm. You can also use a quart of water and if you have a little medicine dropper do 4 drops of bleach. And basically just give your plants a bath in it. There’s lots of stuff to read up online about diy things that you may have laying around the house. Usually if I buy something off clearance, I just go ahead and treat it just to be on the safe side, but that’s just me. But yeah hydrogen peroxide works like a charm… I’ve never tried bleach but some ppl have 🤷🏽♀️

I’ve seen a couple videos about that! I think i’m going to start doing that to all of my plants too cause I heard that it also keeps away fungus gnats and other bug issues

Definitely! I hate when my plants inside get bugs
