Anyone have any tips for propagating polka dot plants? I seemed to have killed my third one….. I’ve got many nodes under water and placed it I. The same place as the mother plant. Do should I be using a humidity dome or something? They always seem to wilt then dry up really fast. She had about 7-8 leaves on her when I started.

It’s funny because I tried last week and nope… nothing. They ended up dying.

I’m wondering if maybe this is what they do and all of a sudden roots will appear and I just have to be patient but I’m not so sure…. The internet makes it seem so easy!

Polkadot plants are another species I have completely given up on. I breathed too hard one time when I was across the room and it died.

Awww sorry about your polka dot. They do seem super hard!!!! This one was doing fine under a grow light, then decided she wanted to be leggy, did that twice. Then decided to start dying so got moved to my SW corner, and perked up…. Then started dying again. Now she’s gone leggy and spindly again! I can’t figure her out!!!! 😭😭😭 but she was my hubs first fave so I’m trying hard to sort her.

Don’t take propagations from a thirsty plant. That’s what it looks like. Make sure you always do it a day after watering. Some plant that need a lot of humidity and water usually have this issue with propagation you could also try misting the propagation every day.

Ooooooh ok I’ve never checked to see if it was thirsty before. But that makes sense. Usually with this plant the props I’ve gotten were props of opportunity, not ones on purpose. Next time I’ll def check first and good to know I can mist them too!

I’ve never had luck water propagating but if you put it in a container with sphagnum moss it’ll start growing roots in no time! They are similar to nerve plants and thrive in a terrarium environment
