OllieAdding around a drop of hydrogen peroxide can help prevent things like algae growth and bacteria in there, can definitely slow rotting effects

Hey! My plants that rotted were neon pothos, marble queen pothos and monstera adasonaii. The cuttings that are coming are a pothos cebu, n’joy, neon and philodendron Brazil

NextJennWhen I cut my pothos with sterile shears, I dip them in wax from an unscented, undyed candle wax. Then add it to the water. Some people use super glue, some let it callous over 24hrs. I have best luck with the wax. I start rooting in a week or so without any additives. Pothos create their own rooting hormone, so using pre rooted ones in the same glass helps. I don’t change my water for pothos, I top it off. I try to have an areal root if possible under water. Photos I added are of 2 day old cuts with no roots yet, with 2-3 week old cuts. I put rooted ones in with everything water lol.

First of all: I LOVE your skeleton!!! Second thanks so much! I have tried the wax but I think I didn’t cost the cutting enough. I’ll try it again! I’ll also top off the water instead. May I ask where in the world are you located? I was just wondering if maybe I’m having difficulty because I’m in a colder climate

Phone froze. I think the warmth and light is key. Here is a photo of momma back in February with props I had there for a few months until I gave them away. I usually have extremely rooted ones in water at all times.

Thanks!! I couldn’t throw the skeleton away last Halloween and needed a trellis lol. I’m in central Florida. I just bought prop drops so I’ll update you if that makes a difference. I’ve had success with one leafed single nodes cuttings, as long as it’s healthy and had a few air roots that will be submerged, I just ordered mystery cuttings off Etsy so I picked up drops today. This is that corner now. Always changing.

I saw the prop drops in one of your pictures and I thought you were in America! Please update me if it works for you. I’m in the UK though so I don’t think I’ll be able to find it here

HFCI also add a drop of hydrogen peroxide and let them callous over before placing in water.

Thanks so much! I’ve tried the hydrogen peroxide and put wax on the parts I’ve cut. Fingers crossed!

Just a little Prop Drop update for you. I’d say it doesn’t hurt. I do feel it may of progressed the time to root by a few days. Roots look healthy. I took a sansivera chunk out of my planter and through it in water with prop drops as a test. And it’s growing pretty water roots as well.

They rooted so well!!! My plants STILL rotted even with a drop of hydrogen peroxide and changing the water regularly and wax on the open wound 😅 I guess I’m not very good at propagating. But I do have a few that are ok currently

My golden pothos has always rooted. Im currently testing other plants that don’t require roots or corms. (Used prop drops on my corms and they are already starting to root and it’s been 4 days. My apartment is always between 75-80 degrees and humidity in that area is 55-80 depending on time of day. It really can be water or environment difference that we have. I use API dechlorinator for fish tanks, for my tap water and only use that and haven’t killed anything off yet since I switched to bottled or dechlorinated water
