i’ve heard different opinions, so i’m curious for people to weigh in — if you’re propping something leafy (not a succulent) do you prefer to let it callous before sticking it in water or just put it in right away?

Depends on the size of the stem if it’s thick yes if it’s a tiny stem I don’t bother
0 Mi piaceAlways callous. But depending on the stem size I’ll leave them anywhere from 30mins-48hrs.
2 Mi piaceHow do you decide the length of time?
0 Mi piaceIf its a thin stemmed younger plant it will take much less time to callous than a mature rubber tree (for example). So its just based on the cutting I’m propagating.
0 Mi piaceLetting it callous is a preventative measure, by letting it dry out your propagation is less likely to rot at the spot it was cut
