i’ve heard different opinions, so i’m curious for people to weigh in — if you’re propping something leafy (not a succulent) do you prefer to let it callous before sticking it in water or just put it in right away?

Depends on the size of the stem if it’s thick yes if it’s a tiny stem I don’t bother
0 Me gustaAlways callous. But depending on the stem size I’ll leave them anywhere from 30mins-48hrs.
2 Me gustaHow do you decide the length of time?
0 Me gustaIf its a thin stemmed younger plant it will take much less time to callous than a mature rubber tree (for example). So its just based on the cutting I’m propagating.
0 Me gustaLetting it callous is a preventative measure, by letting it dry out your propagation is less likely to rot at the spot it was cut
