I was wondering how to, or if I even should, try to cut off the taller section of this nerve plant and propagate it. It’s top heavy and relies on the little copper stake to stay upright. This poor plant had to suffer through my beginner mistakes but is doing great now. I don’t want to mess it up. What say you? Thanks in advance.

You can chop and prop. It will continue to grow etiolated unless it gets sufficient light. The grow should be closer to the plants. Use the light meter app to determine the amount of light the plants are getting verses the light intensity they need for each plant. Then, adjust the light source. 🪴🍀

Thank you! That’s very helpful. It stressed with additional light when I moved it closer and I lost a top. I think the elongated growth is from before I got this particular grow. The foliage has been much closer since I changed the grow. Does any of this change your advice for the grow?

My advice is the standard requirement. They need light to prevent them from growing elongated. The newer leaf nodes will be closer together when they get more light. The older leaf nodes will stay the same unless you propagate them to plant the bare vines in the soil after removing. Propagate the vines and place them with the mother plant to look fuller. You may need a slightly larger pot.
