Dieffenbachia Help She’s been neglected, may have forgot about her sitting on the balcony for a few weeks. She’s okay, just some browning leaves and dry soil. I rewatered. But for winter, I reeaaallyy want to chop her canes all the way down, like an inch above the soil, because I’m tired of the leggy appearance. If I do that before winter will I kill her? Or do I need to wait until spring? Thank you!
First, get her inside asap because it's way too cold out for her. Being outside in below freezing temps will kill her much quicker than cutting her back. As for cutting her back, I would. I'd probably give her a week or two to adjust to being indoors and then I agree with chopping all the way down to about an inch above the soil. You can also prop the heads and the bare stalks.

0개 좋아요 For dieffenbachia, I use soil. Usually just stick them in the same pot as the root ball for a bushier plant. If I'm looking to give some away, I'll put them in 2.5-4" pots (depending on how thick and long the stems are and how many will be in the same pot). I follow the regular watering schedule of letting the top layer dry out and I've never had one fail (yet)
