Has anyone tried honey as a rooting hormone? Root rot got to my plant & I don’t have much left with roots so I was wanting to propagate in soil like I did with a pothos but I don’t have much plant to trial & error.

MulleinInteresting, I haven’t heard of honey for propagation. So I don’t know if it’ll work or not. I’ve heard many people who swear by cinnamon powder on fresh cut stems though

Dee-DeeTo be honest I’ve never propagated Pothos in soil I always use the in water method…. I must of propagated more than 20 plantlings and gifted them. As for the honey rooting method I’ve tried it personally but I’ve seen videos stating that honey is good to use for propagation. If you do experiment with it please share your results with us. 😊💚🪴

MummaDebIf you don't have rooting powder, try cinnamon. Never heard of using honey.

eatyacarbsidk about the honey (i think i’ve seen a tiktok or something touting the method though) only because it’s been mentioned here more than once - cinnamon doesn’t aid in rooting but it prevents fungal infection that’s why people use it on cuttings 😊💚

I have maybe 2 shoots in here that have roots & I hunnied (lol) the rest, I moved her into a 4” pot & put her inside instead of out. I hope she makes it. *I have also sprinkled cinnamon in the soil mix for all of my plants. I have learned it helps with the insects, I didn’t know about the fungus. Thanks everyone !

AllisonI saw a propagation experiment on instagram where they used popular methods such as cinnamon, and a few different hormones, but the one that worked the best was actually honey! I would say go for it.

I went for it, all of the vines except for 1 rotted. I’m assuming because I didn’t cut it all out but I’m devastated & water propping the lone survivor.
