Any advice on getting these to root? Both have been in the water a little over a month, no new roots at all, however the Purple Heart is growing new leaves.

    purple heart always roots quick for me, that's interesting, but if it's growing new leaves it isn't dying. just give it time.

    Make sure you put regular fertilizer whenever you do a water change on it. They go through fertilizer like crazy. If you have a Pothos by chance, you can take a clipping off your Pothos let it scab over and put it in the cup with your purple heart because Pothos release root hormones into the water as they grow or you can just give it some time . Mine typically root decently within the week but that is because I use fish water in mine, and I also grow mine out of my fish tank as props. So if you have an active fish tank by chance, you can always use some of that water as fertilizer believe it or not fish create amazing fertilizer for plants.

      It’s crazy you say that because I always prop my pothos in the same water every time and they’re the only plant I don’t change the water for. The glass jar that I have them in has grown bright green algae and the water never smells, gets slimy, or attracts bugs and any plant I prop in there grows so quick. I grew a whole pineapple using my pothos water. 😂Maybe I should just put these clippings in that same container?

    Both types usually put out new roots within two or three weeks. Low heat, low light and extra long vines can slow the root growth. I recommend adding liquid version of rooting hormone powder to the water with each water change. Add diluted fertilizer when roots appear. Give it more indirect bright light for longer periods each day. Make sure the temperature are summertime levels to encourage growth. Change the water weekly or when cloudy. Note, fertilizer and rooting hormone can increase the need to change water more often because the water can get cloudy and grow algae. 🪴🍀
