I have this dieffenbachia I’ve had for a long time. Spider mites got him and it dropped a lot of bottom leaves. I want to propagate him. I want to get rid of all the long stems so the plant looks healthy again. Can I cut the stems, use root stimulater and set in water to root? Has anyone had luck with one?

Oh I know what you mean ….. mine is from my grandmother and I’m always terrified to give it a haircut but it needs it once in a while

Mine grew so tall and stalky that it accidentally got cut In half. I seriously was freaking out but stuck it in water and the top survived and started growing roots. The bottom stalk I just left in the vase that it was in and finally it grew leaves!!! So yes it works!
