Root growth on this cutting has been stagnant for a couple of weeks now. Do y'all think this is ready for soil? Longest root is 2 inches.

    Some say 2 inches, others say till secondary roots grow- even without roots some cuttings happily grow in soil! I’d say there’s no harm in trying- if the leaves don’t look too happy, keep the soil fairly watered more than usual and if it still looks unhappy you can always put it back into water to grow even more roots🙃

      Do you think transferring it into some sphagnum moss would help with root growth before soil?

      I’ve not tried it myself but have seen lots of people use that technique and it work to help reduce the shock almost like a stepping stone between water to soil🙃

    Two inches of root growth is good enough to plant in soil. Mine is in a 2 inch wide plastic shot glass. The tiny ceramic pot (no drainage ) is part of a set of Chinese tea cups. The tea cups are perfect for holding cuttings and keep them from being easily knocked over. It’s in chunky soil. I don’t leave the soil moist. I water after planting. Then, I let the soil dry out before watering again.
