I painted the ends in Keiki paste. Did I tip too much off the ends?… | Propagating & Sowing | Planta-Community

I painted the ends in Keiki paste. Did I tip too much off the ends? Do I just mist daily? I tried putting plastic wrap with holes but it molded them the first time

How do you mist the dirt without misting the leaves? I’ve never been successful propping succulents because I can’t figure it out - when I tried misting like I’ve seen others do the leaves just rotted.

So, the key is to only mist enough to dampen the soil. But only enough it will dry out in a few hours most. No humidity dome and air flow of some sort needed.

I’ll copy something I wrote on another post Cait2k3 had.

The stem cuttings will root faster. You can grow them from leaves, but it will take a few months probably. With all succulents, you just take the leaves and lay them flat on top of a tray of dirt. The plant will not send out roots until it knows it is safe to do so although some plant cuttings are more ambitious about putting out roots than others. Some leaves you could just leave on a shelf and they would grow roots and pups. Some need a little more encouragement. What I have found that works for most of them is to lay it on a thin layer of dirt in a tray and mist that once every day or two. You want to spray it enough to let the plant sense moisture, but you also want it to be able to dry out within a few hours so you don’t cause any rot on those leaves. The plants don’t want to put out roots until they know that they’re in an environment that they can access water. That applies more to plants that roots have rotted off of or to stem cuttings. I don’t think of the spots on the Jade stem as nodes like Pothos plant, but there are basically nodes that the leaves grow out of and that’s where new leaves can grow out of if you were to take a stem cutting and stick it in dirt. The roots would come from the cut stem part though. Any cuttings you take, you should let dry over, also known as callousing over, until the cut end is very dry. That could be a few hours for a leaf, or a whole day or two for a stem cutting.

I just put them in a pot just like you did and mist them when I remember to lol 😂 they have all the nutrients they need in the leaf so you don’t really have to but I like to
