I’ve had this problem before and unfortunately, it looks like it’s rotting. Apparently, there is another way to grow the seed where you put the avocado into a wet paper towel instead of submerging it in water so it is less likely to rot. I can’t post the URL bc of Plantas rules but if you search “grow avocado from seed without rot” you should find some helpful stuff :)

I put mine in a small container of dirt covered about half way. Worked great!
1 me gustaDid you peel the outer skin off before putting it in water? That looks like the outer skin on it, you should peel that off to reveal the beige portion underneath. And then change the water too and clean out the dish and add clean water back in, it should be fine as long as there is not rot underneath the skin

That’s correct. Whatever the sprouting method I think they all require you to remove the skin.
0 Me gustaDefinitely peel the outer skin. I’ve heard success with all three methods mentioned. I tried the paper towel in a ziploc method, which worked for me. Takes time though!
