Had this monstera cutting since December, i moved it to a smaller jar since it was getting root rot when it was too submerged in water, now shes got i would say a decent amount of roots and i feel like shes ready to be moved, is it better to move to leca or soil?? and how do i not shock her since shes been only living off water and fertilizer and zero substrate🙏🏼🩺 halp!

I think you could do soil. But it would have to be suuuper aerated to give the roots enough oxygen. A really really chunky mix, and make sure not to pack the roots too tightly

I recommend Molly’s Mix if you go the soul route

Before switching to straight soil from water to prevent shock put a little soil at a time in the water then make the swap so its use to the nutrients from the soil

the microbes in potting soil may breed out of control in water since there is very minimal air. this can easily cause root rot, so i really wouldn’t recommend this method, especially with rot-prone plants like monstera deliciosa.

i would recommend switching to a semi-hydroponic setup first, and allowing the plant to acclimate to some level of drought in semi-hydro before transitioning to soil. this will ensure the roots are hardy enough for an easy transition, since water roots are so fine and soft.
