Hi all! Does anyone have any advice or thoughts on notching or pinching rubber plants to promote growth? I’ve had this for a little around a month. Repotted once about 3 weeks ago but still waiting for the growth node to enlarge which it hasn’t. This is a rubber plant ruby/belize by the way. Thank you!

I notched mine about a month ago and already have a ton of new growth! I’ve noticed after repotting they focus a lot of their energy on their roots so I fertilized the same time I notched.

This is my witch of a plant. We have a love hate relationship. On one your size I’d pinch rather than notch.

It looks great! Definitely filling in with great growth up top :) Should I maybe wait another month or so so I don’t stress out my plant too much with repotting and then notching right away?

I think you could probably get away with waiting a few more weeks but you’ll want to make sure you do it before it gets into the colder months. It’ll kinda depend on where you live or you could wait until spring.

What's notching? I have a very leggy one.

From what I understand it’s where you intentionally knick/cut into the stem. From where you “damage” the stem, new growth should occur although it isn’t a guarantee.

I dropped mine a few months ago, damaged the growth point and since then it’s grown 20cm
