Hey everyone! Have 2 pots with various types of Holiday Cactus clippings I could use some help with! Both pots are indoors but under grow lights 9hrs a day. The one with the arrow pointing to it is the oldest clipping, from almost a year ago. And it hasn’t grown AT ALL! It does have roots, I’ve checked, but no signs of new segments growing at all. No matter what I try, with watering or fertilizing, etc. All the other clippings are from about 4months ago, they haven’t grown either, and the roots are barely there. And no signs of growth on top either. I’m pretty bummed I’ve had no luck with these yet! My grandma (who I got the clippings from) propagated a clipping around the same time the one with the arrow was started(about a year ago). And her plant has grown SO MUCH, like enough to take new clippings from! Any advice to help me jumpstart these would be super appreciated! Thanks!

    I’ve done the same thing with mine almost a year ago. I’m new to this plant but from what I’ve learned so far it’s slow growing for me. I’d love to see what ppl here say.

    When using grow lights it’s recommended to do at least 12 - 14 hours. I run all my lights from 6am-6pm so they are off at night when I want to relax. Side note my Christmas Cactus is in a north window and it’s doing great and has new growth. Keep in mind they are tropical cactuses and not desert so they like more water.

    None of them look dead or withered so I’d say don’t give up yet. There could be a lot of differences in the conditions your cuttings and your grandma’s cuttings had so no need to stress! I second the grow light suggestion - mine is under a grow light for 12 hours a day. I also have it a couple cuttings in semi-hydro which has been an interesting experiment (it’s loving it!). It’ll get there, it just needs time :)

    Mine is a slow grower too as others have mentioned. They do like a lot of light (esp when it comes time to storing energy for blooming) mines in a SW window and has a grow light about 2’ away (just as a supplement for my entire shelf) I noticed that mine took a while for it to go from just a few segments, to regularly putting out new growth. I think I had it for a full year before it really started putting out consistent growth. So I’d keep with it!
