First time propagating Copper spoons. Have had this in soil for over a month. It feels pretty sturdy in the soil but no baby coming through yet. Can anyone enlighten me please? How often to water etc. I am not very patient 😌

MadisonIt will probably take a while to see any babies, especially this time of year where it’s the dormancy season (for the northern hemisphere- disregard if you’re in the southern hemisphere). Giving it lots of sun will help speed up growth; I believe this is one of those plants actually like full direct sun, so a west-facing window or strong grow light would do great. From what I understand, Copper spoons are succulents from Madagascar, so they want the soil to be truly 100% dry before watering again. I like to check that my succulents are ready to water by sticking a toothpick or wooden skewer all the way down into the soil until it touches the bottom of the pot, leaving it in there for 1-5 minutes, and then taking it out. If I see any soil sticking to it or any moisture, I hit “snooze” on watering. If it comes out dry and clean, it’s ready to water.

That’s a great idea about the toothpick - less intrusive than poking my finger in the soil too. I actually couldn’t wait so I very gently excavated it out and to my surprise there is a little root! My goodness it definitely is slow growing! Thank you so much :)
