Hi!! I have a beautiful sansevieria named Shoeshine and wanted to propagate him so there's more around the house ๐Ÿ˜ƒ I've watched quite a few YouTube videos about the best way to do this once cut - water vs soil. What do y'all think? Right now these pieces have been sitting for about a day. I heard you should let the wound dry for a couple of days, so I'll want to put them in something today. I'm thinking of trying both ways - put some in water and some in soil, then see which does better. Some people have said water props grow roots faster though ๐Ÿค” I'm just not sure. Any thoughts are helpful! Thanks! ๐Ÿข

I like water propagation better, I can monitor root development. I did both soil and water, I feel like soil took longer for me. Also, it takes some months to show pups. I suggest, take a good long leaves and just make them a decoration. That's what I did ๐Ÿ˜‚. Once the cut has been calloused.

Water propagation will have to acclimate to soil eventually

The top pieces usually do better in water, and the middle and bottom pieces do better in perlite or some type of semi-hydro substrate. Thatโ€™s just my personal experience tho.
