Need some advice on my first ever props! Are these ready for soil? 1. My marble queen has a couple funky fuzzy roots 2. My tradescantia has some short but well branched roots 3. The golden has yet to show any major rooting 😢 Thanks!!!

I like to put them in soil when the roots are about 1 inch long (especially because Pothos can live in water for an extended period of time) so I would wait a little bit to plant them 🙃

The cuttings should have at least 2 inches of roots to increase the chance of taking root in the potting mix. It takes about 3 weeks for a pothos to get longer roots.

definitely keep waiting. in fact the longer the better really. some say “until the root have roots” if that makes sense. basically you want a really robust root system before transferring to soil because it can send it into shock and without the proper support system it might struggle. they all look fine, they’ll get there eventually.

i highly recommend transitioning to semi-hydro like leca, pon, pumice, or perlite, before soil. water roots are delicate, weak, and soft, so the transition to soil can be rough for water-rooted plants. if your plant has to push through a water-retentive media instead of plain water while growing new roots it will strengthen the root system and allow the plant to adjust to some level of drought, eventually easing the transition to soil or soilless media. i typically keep my propagations in perlite until they have a root system big enough to fill out a small nursery pot.

Amazon! This one has since been discontinued but I believe many brands make near identical ones, just search “propagation station” and you should find some.
