I have a dilemma my Chinese money plant 🌱 is growing only at the top. I am tempted to cut off the top and propagate it but I’m not sure if the mother plant will be ok without leaves? It went through a phase of dropping all bottom leaves.

This plant is very easy to propagate. Sometimes they will produce babies in the soil at the base and you can remove those and replant but a lot of times you need to cut off the top. Leave about 2 inches of stem at the bottom and place the top in water. Both the top and the bottom should begin to grow in a week or so. If the top portion is long enough you can even cut it in sections rerouting even the part with no leaves. The money plant does not like soggy soil, it likes moderate to bright indirect light. It is very phototropic so it needs to be rotated weekly to keep the leaves from facing One direction, you should fertilize with a balanced fertilizer monthly and it prefers to not be too root bound so repot every 1 to 2 years.
3 gillningarOh thank you that’s a really great advice! I have propagated it once before it had babies growing at the sides but never chopped off the top, will do that today! Thank you 🤩

2 gillningarIncrease water and humidity. If the trunk is kept from drying out it may start sprouting. Also, you won't drop so many stems. How much light does it get? The leaf stems seem pretty leggy.
1 gillaI have moved it to a brighter area since then. And now I’ve put both the cutting and the trunk under grow light. Yes I have placed the trunk under the glass dome as well. Fingers crossed 🤞 it starts sprouting some greenery soon 🌱✨
