Hi guys šŸ‘‹ This is my Rhipsalis Cassitha (I believe). The 3 dangling at the front have grown from 10cm cuttings over about 3 months. Then I got the 2 shorter bits at the back a week or so ago. They all arrived in a mystery cuttings box from a wonderful seller on Etsy. Anyway, I’m wondering how to help it fill out? It’s grown like crazy in length but looked somewhat pitiful as 3 little strands. Will it grow new ā€˜strands’ from the roots or should I chop the longer sections? If so, how is it best to do that? Thanks in advance šŸŒæšŸ¤—šŸŒæ

It needs lots of light from a grow light since it’s a succulent. It will branch out, then. Now, it’s growing leggy (etiolated) looking for more light. You can propagate by cutting up the long stems and letting them callous over 2 days. Then, put in soil like you do with these. A branching rhipsalis cassutha in the picture.

Thank you So what I bought is essentially just cut anywhere from the mother plant. Then by the time it’s been in the mail a couple of days; it’ll have time to callous. I’d been looking for something akin to a node šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø šŸ™Really appreciate your reply šŸ™

You’re welcome. It’s cactus, so, you can grow new plants by cutting it up. Roots grow from the calloused area. New segments grow from the top like a Thanksgiving cactus. These are just very thin.
