My peperomia got root rot, would I be better propagating the pieces in soil or water? Before and after below, I have been trying them in soil but another leaf went black today

Water prop with a little hydrogen peroxide. I lost a whole peperomia plant this past week due to rot

Thank you! This is my only peperomia and hopefully it can stay alive in water- I noticed one piece was growing roots but the rest were black

You can also boil water & run it through the pot of soil it’s currently in to be able to use again when the plant is healthy & doing good

You can clip the rotted roots as far up as you can manage, soak the roots in a mix of 2 parts water, 1 part hydrogen peroxide for 30 minutes, rinse the roots in water and gently pat dry, then repot in fresh soil. You can prop a couple of pieces for extra insurance by the stem or leaf in moss or perlite, but if you wanna try at it again in soil, let the soil dry out completely between waterings and the first to second time you water it, add a couple of drops of peroxide again to the water when watering. It’ll help keeping the rot from coming back and help with new root development. In terms of soil, I keep mine in a mix of perlite, 70% Espoma’s All-Purpose Soil Mix and 30% Espoma’s Cactus and Succulent mix. The trick with peperomia is not having too much sphagnum moss and making sure the soil is well draining and “chunky” enough so that the water drains quickly and doesn’t leave it sitting in water. I also bottom water my peperomia, and it’s good to double check that the number of days between waterings isn’t different for your specific plant than what the app recommends when you look the same plant up. That might sound weird, but it’s a frequent glitch I’ve noticed and it could’ve led to the root rot in the first place. For reference, I have the same peperomia and I currently water her every 9 days this month. If it says anything earlier for your plant, you can fix it by adjusting the number of days in the custom settings for your plant. Hope this helps!
