I got this cutting that got root rot... I had it dry out, and put it in dry soil, I think the pup died, but does anyone know if I can revive it?

Is that a Christmas cactus? If so then they’re pretty easy to grow. You could put it in a plastic box with damp sphagnum moss or even just pop it into some soil.

A friend gave the cutting to me, she never told me the name... I just know it's not a Christmas Cactus

Can you get a picture of the leaf on its own? Because it does look like one from your photo.

That looks fuzzy, not like a Christmas cactus smoothness. I would spray it down with 1 part peroxide 3 part water. Let it dry and then try again. The leaf looks plump still, and not mushy, so don't think the rot effected it.

Just lay it out on some moist perlite

looks like it may be a type of kalanchoe. cut away anything mushy or questionable, then allow the injury to callous fully. i live in a humid climate and have found it effective to allow succulents to grow aerial roots before planting in some moist succulent soil in a 2” pot. at that point the propagations can be treated like you would a mature succulent, allow the soil to dry out fully before watering again. i find it helpful sometimes to look for signs of thirst in the leaves instead of checking the soil.
