My plant has a baby plant! I am trying to separate it so their roots do not become too entangled. Should I cut the root it’s connected to and place in water? Or cut and place in soil. Or something else 😊 Thanks for your help!

You can just cut the root that connects the two. Just make sure baby plant has primary and secondary roots to give it a healthy start

I’ve found the easiest way to propagate it is to wait until it has its own roots, carefully remove it from the mother plant with some shears, sprinkled with rooting powder (I use Bonide’s Rooting Hormone Powder. Helps with transplant shock, repotting, and speeding up the root development process. Great for propagating cuttings.) then place in a 1-2 in size pot with some fresh cactus mix. Water as often as you do the pilea if it already has roots, and use a toothpick to test if the soil is dry enough to water before watering it. Let it completely dry out between waterings and you should be good. Hope this helps!
